Support for American Power Conversions UPS??

I am trying to configure Win XP native support for my UPS. The UPS is
connected to my computer by the APC supplied serial cable. When I go to
START>CONTROL PANEL>POWER OPTIONS> and click on the UPS tab, I choose
"American Power Conversions" and Back-UPS Pro 1100 from the drop-down
list. When I "apply" the choices, it says that "The UPS service is
currently stopped". My question is, how do I start it so that it shows
the stats such as, run time, capacity, and other stats? Any help is
appreciated. Tech support at APC wasn't much help.

Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/Administrative
Tools/Services/Uniterruptible Power Supply; Right-click, Properties, Set
Start Up type to Automatic

It was already on automatic. Although I just bought this UPS new at
Sam's club, it must be an older model that XPs native support does *not*
support.

Billy, I somewhat doubt that, on the grounds that the APC I'm using at
least a few years old, old enough to not have a USB interface.

When I got my new computer, I used the same serial cable from the UPS to
the CPU that my older setup used, and the APC aplet for UPS support
works fine on the newer computer with the older UPS.

Granted that you wrote that the Service was set to automatic start, but
did you see if it is actually running?

Also, are you sure that you have properly connecected the UPS to your
computer?

Have you remembered to adjust the moon-phase settings?

Moon-phase settings? ;o) I took it back and bought one for WIN XP.
