Support for Active Desktop

I see there is no Active Desktop in Vista - although disliked by many it is
very useful for us as we have an online personal manager system using ASP
pages.

Is there no Active Desktop support at all from Vista onwards? I've seen the
sidebar, but the gadgets are novelty items at best? Can you display HTML/ASP
content in the sidebar?

I wonder how this fits in with Group Policy settings that allow you to set
the wallpaper etc?

It seems Vista has been designed a lot more for home users than coporate
users - the incentive to move from 2000/xp is pretty low initially.

I've also noticed another useful XP feature (for coporate networks) has
disappeared, namely the ability to set the Default User background screen -
i.e the screen that appears when the CTRL-ALT-DEL login box appears. Simple
thing, but looks good when creating a customised ICT suite using your own
bitmap!
