Superscript words in graph legend

How do I superscript text (say, TM, etc) in the legends for graphs created in
powerpoint slides

In Powerpoint 2003 you can do so, but with some concessions. Once the
graph has been created and placed on the slide, it can be ungrouped.
Questions will be ask about your intent and what the result will be for
venturing into this arena. If you accept the mission the legend will be
accessible for font surgery. Highlight the TM and hold down Ctrl and
Shift while using the = key. The graph cannot be returned to its
original state of health once it is ungrouped, so you might want to
commission a second opinion.

What I usually do to get a symbol like trademark in the legend of a graph is
to insert the symbol using Insert - symbol in an ordinary textbox, then
select it, hit ctrl+c. Open the graph, in the datasheet, doubleclick the
cell with the legend text and hit ctrl+v in the appropriate spot.
But maybe there is another way if so someone will jump in.
