Hello:

I am running Windows XP with AVG Anti-Virus (free edition).
Everytime I boot up my laptop I get a small window that opens and
on the toolbar of thw window it says "Super Annoying Virus". I did
some research and found that it is a win32 worm.

What research was that? Google returns a few worthy pages:

http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22080
http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/w32aolannoya.html

The second calls it an AOL worm. Heehee!
If I run a AVG scan it picks up the virus and gives it the
extension of .scr. The AVG program puts the virus in the virus
vault. If I reboot my computer the virus appears again. I also have
system restore disabled, so it cannot be harboring there. Any help
as how to remove this would be appreciated.

Try the recommendations on the above pages...

Did you delete it from the Virus Vault?

Open the AVG Control Center | Program | Virus Vault
Here it will display all the viruses that have been removed to the vault.
You have the choice of deleting them there. Have you tried that?

BTW....anything that is in the System Restore is of no real worry, and will
eventually be flushed out on it's own as the files are dropped from the
Restore archive. However, if you wish, you can of course, as you did,
disable SR and reboot, clearing out all the files. But, you should then
restore the SR to Enabled. Your SR is your lifeboat in the event of a
serious problem and you need to go back to a time prior to when the
problem(s) occured.

You might need to invest in a more effective Anti virus program. I
personally have had many instances where AVG has not detected or acted
accordingly to viruses on client computers. While I also do NOT
recommend Norton Anti virus I suggest looking through this newsgroup for
advice in selecting an Anti virus program. I personally use a program
that hasn't really been mentioned in here called VET Anti virus
(produced by Computer Associates) and find it to be of a high standard
especially considering the agreeable price tag.
Good luck
