Sun Java not compatible with Vista?

I'm curious about the fact that the Vista Upgrade Advisor describes the
latest version of Sun Java as possibly a problem when upgrading to
Vista. Comments on this? Should it be uninstalled before upgrading?

Sun Java works fine. If you need a further update it will be automatically
upgraded. There was one recently that stopped some programs turning off
Aero, I noticed. I didn't even realise that these programs were using any
Java at all.

What does "Release Candidate" mean? Is it a step up (or down) from "Beta"?

It's a step up, you usually see Release Candidates just before a new app
goes gold (as we did with Vista RC1 and then Vista RC2).

Since I use Sun Java, is it advisable to download & install this now (I've
got WinXP Home) or wait for the final release or wait until I move to WinV?

Personally, I would uninstall Sun Java before the upgrade and then install
the RC after you are on Vista.
