Don't forget to uninstall earlier version(s), as the JRE installer
doesn't do that.
 
Because people with bad intentions will take advantage of the
vulnerabilities of the older Java versions if still installed.
 
why is this version _u2?

The java spec allows a developer to write for a particular version. So--if
you remove that version, some mission critical app might stop working.
Therefore, they don't remove old versions. For many users, this is not an
issue, particularly with minor subversion changes to the same major version.
However, it is definitely an issue--for example, I had to install and old
(and vulnerable) version of Suns JRE in order to install FEDEX's shipping
software. Once the install completed, I was able to move to the current
version, but the older version was needed by the installer.
