summing data from a list

Ive got a list of about 100 transactions, with the type in one column and the
amount in the next column. There's only about 10-12 types of transactions,
and I want to create a table that lists the type of transaction and sum of
the amounts of that type of transaction from the list. Is there a quick way I
can do this? Thanks.
