Summary in page footer is incorrect

I am having problems with my report and doing a summary. I will explain
what I have so maybe someone can explain to me what I need to do.

Section : Stage_name Header

Section: Mod_trans_dates Header
Text Box [tot_min_pay]
Text Box [tot_shift_pay]

Section: Detail
Text Box [add_pay]
Text Box [ded_pay]

Section: Mod_trans_dates Footer
Text Box [tot_add_pay] (Thjis is calculated)
Text Box [tot_ded_pay] (This is calculated)

Section : Stage_name Footer

Now this is what I want to do. Have a text box that shows the grantotal like
of =[tot_min_pay]+[tot_shift_pay]+[add_pay]+[ded_pay]

When I do this it returns a blank

However when I do this =[tot_min_pay]+[tot_shift_pay]

Page Footer


It returns the total of the two field correctly.

Do you want this total in the page footer, a group footer, or the report
footer? Am I correct that you want to total values from group headers as
well as the detail section? If so, the totals of Group Headings would
require running sums in the group headers and then a control in the report
footer that references the value of the running sum text box.
