How can do I use the fuction "sumif" if I want to count
the number of cells which have a certain year attached to
them and then sum up the belonging values to each year.

In the A-collum I have the years and in the B-collumn I
have the values. In the year collumn the year it typed in
as an exact date eg. 3-4-2004, which the formula cannot
seem to read. I have made sure than Excel has formatted it
as a real date.

Hi Frank

Nice formula, but why do you have to enter the '--'? In
what way does it change the formula (it obviously doesnt
work without it).

Just curious - Im trying to improve my excel knowledge.
Dont bother if you are too busy.

Hans

Hi
the -- (double minus) will convert the boolean values to numbers (TRUE
= 1, FALSE = 0) You could also multiply with 1 or add a zero
