SUMIF problem

I would like to use this formula:

=SUMIF(F7:F19,"=E54",D719)

But it doesn't seeem to be working.

Basically, I want to determine which cells in range
F7:F19 have the same value as cell E54. Then I want to
sum cells D719 that have that matching value in cells
F7:F19.

What am I doing wrong?

=SUMIF(F7:F19,"=" & E54,D719)

or
=SUMIF(F7:F19,E54,D719)

Just use:

E54

i.e.:

=SUMIF(F7:F19,E54,D719)

instead of:

"=E54"
