James

I have asked this previously but the answer given did not
work.

I need a formula to do sum the cells in column C if A=x
and B=y. x and y are variable that I pick.

I think it will be along these lines but I don't know the
syntax

(IF A:A=x AND B:B=y) SUM C:C

The IF function should determine which cells in C:C are
summed.

Many thanks,
James

I answered this question earlier this morning, giving a standard SUMPRODUCT
formula. If that didn't work, don't start a new thread so that nobody knows
what's gone before. Reply to my answer, saying what doesn't work. What do
you get? An error value, the wrong result, or what?

Paul,

this is getting worse and worse, it seems that so many people connect to
these NGs through either
MS CDO web support (anonymousATdiscussions.microsoft.com) or Excel Forum
instead of using newsreaders
and a news server..
