Suitable welcome gift

I have a new neighbour who is a Hindu. Can anyone suggest a suitable welcome/moving in gift.

I thought perhaps flowers might be nice but I'm very aware that there are things in the Hindu culture which are considered lucky or unlucky, so if anyone can help I would be most grateful.

That should transgress a few cultural barriers.

If it doesn't then you can always make the excuse you tried :D
