There were two NT4 servers on this network and we upgraded the NT4 PDC to
w2k domain controller and did a clean install on the former BDC to upgrade
it to a w2k member server. The problem is that I am now not able to promote
the former BDC to a domain controller.
I run the active directory wizard on the members server which is a member of
the domain but when it gets to the end I am returned an error message that
states that a suitable domain controller cannot be found.
XP workstations are able to logon to the W2K server and member server can
ping and access files on the DC.
The name of their domain is Hill_serv.local. Do you think that this name
with the underscore may be causing a problem.
Thanks,
