I need to restructure my ad structure. This weekend I will
be overhauling everything.

Have 4 servers. 2 in Melbourne, 1 in Sydney and another in
Brisbane. (Private adsl network links the sites)

Need suggestions on the AD domain name.

Since we have 60 users Australia wide I was thinking:

1 forest
1 domain

1 primary DC, 1 secondary DC in Melbourne (same site)

1 secondary DC in Sydney
1 secondary DC in Brisbane

Domain name pehraps: corp.mydomain.com.au

Any suggestions?

what do you think of mydomain.com.au in Melbourne
and create child domains ie sydney.mydomain.com.au,
brisbane.mydomain.com.au for the interstate branches.

Is this to complex for such few users? Also have roaming
users between cities, maybe the single domain australia
wide could be better? Do not know yet.

Can anyone give me some pratical examples? I consulted the
resource kit but it is too much in theory, very little
pratical scenarios.

Thank you

Best Regards

Alfred
PS to export the users, groups etc do I use csvde.exe?
What is the best practice. This is my first multi site
installation. Heeeeeeeeeelp

Sounds like a big change. I wouldn't rush into it
without planning it carefully first. The danger is that
you might have restructure again.

If you are going for a single domain approach (which
sounds fine), it is generally recommended to have an
internet-registered domain name. This ensures global
uniqueness.

Microsoft's ADMT 2.0 is a good option for restructuring,
unless you want to go for 3rd party tool.

Have you read the W2K3 deployment kit chapters on
directory restructuring? If not, I strongly recommend
you do before going ahead.

Hi,

The thing is the I am already running windows 2000
servers , not NT 4.

We already have a registered domain name on the internet.
