Would recommend adding a percentage complete label that
shows the percentage of the process complete when running
a scan.

The problem with this is that this can be VERY
misleading. When you run a scan using your AV software,
some files take longer, MUCH longer to scan than others.
The same is true when dealing with spyware/malware and
the like. Last night I defragged my hard drive for the
first time in God knows how long. It took almost an hour
and a half to complete. DiskKeeper displayed that it was
12% complete for almost 1 hour of that time. If the less
experienced user took a look at that, they would think
that it was going to take about 8 and a half hours to
complete the scan. I've even seen some AV programs take
about 5 - 10 minutes to scan a single file on a system.
The file in question was a huge compressed file. I used
to exclusively use Spybot Search & Destroy, and noticed a
few bugs. The most noticeable was the timer on the
bottom of the window. The scan would be about 75%
complete, yet the timer would be at 0:00 for almost
another 5+ minutes.

The last thing Microsoft wants to do is to mislead the
public as to how long it's going to take. But the
program tells the user the expected scan time in the
Spyware Scan window (Tools > Spyware Scan > Run a Scan
Now).
