I found this group via Pricelessware. Greetings to all.

I am looking for a program which, hopefully, will make it easier to remember
where I've put saved files and images. I have too many folders all related
to the same subject (art). It would be nice to have some sort of handy
'inventory' list of the contents, one where, when I save files/images there
is a record of that on a convenient program I can easily access later.
Okay, think I'm even confusing myself here!..let me try this:

I save an image,
it relates to several things I want to do with that image, however, it's
only been saved in one folder,
that image becomes difficult to find later as I've forgotten exactly what I
named it, exactly where it is.

Can't think of another way to organize my files other than duplicating many
of them. Perhaps, I'm overlooking something here that is so obvious. Maybe
tag on some sort of 'code letters' to every file I save which will then
identify it's general content, then while I'm working on a project do a
'find' search for those letters?...seems like there would be an easier way,
maybe not.

Definitely having a right brain moment on this one :) !
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

These programs let you associate key words with an image. You can filter
the images by key words to show just the image thumbnails whose key
words match the key words you select as the filter.

Try FotoAlbum.

These organizers can help organize your images or project files.

Treepad is text only but has a very good search. You could note the
image file names in Treepad and add key words or project names (to
search for later) - or keep your project files in Treepad and add the
image name to each project that you want to associate it with.

Thanks so much. I think I need all the programs here you've suggested and
should've thought myself of simply *keywording* each and every related file
or project long time ago.

Already grabbed Treepad..looks like a keeper.

again, thanks!
