They already have that one. Its filed under microsoft.public.test
Go post all your ubuntu messages there, and other off topic items too would
be a good idea.

It was written in a fit of irony.

I wrote mine in a fit of boredom.

At least we have established that Vista users are prone to having fits.

Ubuntu causes fits.

Only to Microsoft fanboys. To people that see OSs as a mere tool, and
not a thing of worship, Ubuntu works quite nicely, thank you.

I've installed Ubuntu 8.04 AMD64 on my computer and it works. And I
don't need to be running any AV in real-time slowing down my computer.

Just for the peace of mind alone, Ubuntu causes less fits than any
Windows-based solution.

Possibly. I did, however, recently see a soul wandering about downtown. Hair
disheveled, tattered clothing, unwashed, bone in his nose (not like an
African - it was just stuck up a nostril), muttering something that sounded
like "ubuntoo, ubuntoo! repentoo!"

He may have just come from a political rally, a drug treatment center, or a
failed OS installation. I don't honestly know.

I just gave him and his cage of black toads a wide berth.

Nice fiction.

But do you think that really distracted anyone from the truth that Ubuntu
is a more secure OS than MS, and it has the added advantage that hackers
rather f*#k with MS to begin with.

He tried to install Vista, then went to an Obama rally.... but the
mainstream media doesn't believe they should show those pictures, they are
way to graphic!

My SIL is a UNIX admin and I have a fair background on the subject as
well. Still have my Revolution Tour shirt somewhere around here though
I think it's a might tight these days. She and I discussed the advent
of the desktop OS and what each though it should do. Microsoft wants
it to be the alpha-and-omega of computer usage. Much like Apple. She
and I agreed that the best thing an OS can do is reside in the
background and manage the loading and unloading of programs and
services and for the rest simply stay out of the way. Unfortunately
Linux has a very long way to go to be a serious competitor on
workstations. No video editing apps, limited system apps, limited
driver support. limited peripheral support. Too limited.

I agree with you, Linux isn't the right choice in all situations,
although it is good enough for many of the best effects studios working
for Hollywood.

And today's modern digital projection equipment in movie theaters run
with Linux in the background.

And as a Desktop OS for the average home consumer, especially those that
do the majority of their gaming on a XBox, Playstation, or Wii, Linux is
ready to suit their everyday computing needs and wants. It's not
perfect, but then again, what OS is?

Unix is best for servers. End of story.

Too bad that didn't address anything I said. Unix is imperfect, as is
every OS ever developed, or that will ever be developed by human beings.

How in the world does "Unix is best for servers" address anything
involving "And as a Desktop OS for the average home consumer, especially
those that do the majority of their gaming on a XBox, Playstation, or
Wii, Linux is ready to suit their everyday computing needs and wants."

How many "average home consumer(s)" need a server OS, let alone one that
runs Unix?

Unix includes Linux. And Unix/Linux in my book is better for servers than
as a desktop OS. I have used Unix since 1995, so I know what I'm
talking about.

I guess I should have phrased it "Unix is better for servers than as a
desktop OS" in the first place. I know why you got me wrong there...

That's an understatement !

Now isn't it odd that the Linux fanboyz seem to forget that MS took a
server OS (Server 2003) and made a desktop OS called XP x64 ?
