Just because he "thinks" they should count as life doesn't make it so;
and thus the rest of his comment is based on emotion rather than fact.
I'd have expected much better from someone who is considered a brainiac.

Hawking's statement sounds bitter. I bet Mr Hawking got smacked pretty hard
with a virus.

He is obviously stating opinion, not fact. AFAIK, even brainiacs have
the right to voice a simple opinion. Geez, lighten up!
