TUN > UNINSTALL.

[additonal note: standalone hex editor]
Quick note, for those who concern themselves with such things. SourceEdit is
one of those OCX tarantulas. My exported TUN install log for it is 1,043 lines.

For those who avoid programs of that character, you might still be
interested in the standalone hex editor which comes as part of the
package. It doesn't have any special dependencies, and its only reg
writes are to HKCU, for settings.

Since I am not a programmer, all the hex editors kind of look the same
to me. :) I cannot comment on how good it is. Best I can do is make the
observation that it appears to have a lot more functions on its menus
than others that I've looked at.

HexSource is a modified version of Frhed. It seems to have more features
and refinements than the original (judging my looking at menus).

To get hold of HexSource, I think there is no choice but to download and
install SourceEdit. Running Total Uninstall or similar. Then pull out the
HexSrc.exe (323k). Then uninstall.

(Uninstall of course only for those who are picky about HKCR entries etc.
For those who are indifferent, then you'd most likely want to keep the
full SourceEdit package installed.)

I suppose for programmers, this might be their preferred route.

very complex I think, exclusively for programmers . . .

What I mostly do with hex editors is launch them, see if they have pretty
colors, then close them.

A time I used one to actually edit an executable was when having to modify
my newsreader's executable. Main need was to get some extra header fields.
I merely followed step-by-step instructions for that. It wasn't like I had
knowledge about the activity.

The kind of utility that I do use regularly on executables, it's however
you'd called Resource Hacker and the like. I use those most of the time
to view. But occasionally do use to modify, not just graphical elements,
but what's on program menus and similar. I don't know how best to call
this group of utilities. Resource editors?
