Suddenly won't import Audio files

Hey :)

I've been using WMM (and now WMM2) for a few years now and though it can be
frustrating and bug-ridden, it's still the program I keep coming back to.
But now suddenly it won't import audio files and it won't play some of the
video source files it's always played in the past.

When I try to import an audio file I get this message:

The file C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\3 Days Grace
- Home.mp3 is an empty file.

Which it so isn't LOL

With the video source files, it just won't play them at all, I played them
in WMP and they worked fine.

I understand one of the solutions may be to re-download WMM2 but I really
don't want to have to do that because it would erase clips that it took me
hours and hours to create :(

Please help!
Thanks in advance,
Mercury's Winter

Thank you for your fast reply :D

The thing is, it happened all of a sudden, it never had any trouble
importing mp3 files before. Now it won't even import mp3 files that I know
I've used in WMM before. So that leads me to believe that something else is
wrong with the program.

I'll try converting the files though I don't know how to do that :O

You may have had a codec introduced by another program and taking it out of
the picture might restore the way it was working.... recheck your codecs
(see the Problem Solving > Crashes and Hangs page of my site for help)

You could also do a system restore if the situation changed suddenly... that
would resolve a codec issue also.

Hey :)

Still having the same problem. I looked at your problem solving pages which
were really great but I know nothing about codecs other than sometimes I have
to download new ones...

Ok, so I tried dragging and dropping a music file in and I got this error
message:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Jet.mp3 could not be
imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from

I'm wondering what that means LOL Oh, I just remembered I downloaded a
trial version of Ulead's mediastudio 8, could that be interferring with WMM
at all?

Thanks again
Merc

Here's a few ways to get it to WMA

- the Audio Converter in the Plus pack
- Movie Maker version 1 if it imports and goes to the timeline OK... save
the movie and it'll be a WMA
- the Windows Media Encoder
- Movie Maker 2... play it in your Windows Media Player and, as it's
playing, capture it as a narration file
