Hi, I hope you can help with some ideas. Over the last
week I have had various programs fail to initialize past
the splash screen. These are mostly microsoft programs
in the office suite but there are others which must use
the same startup routine. Explorer works but cant print
to the local printer. It just consumes 100% processor
time and hangs. Same with Outlook Express. Initializes
but won't open the email in the bottom screen, just
freezes. When I try to back out using task manager, the
processes for the program msimn.exe consume all of the
processor. when cancel task i get dumprep.exe consume
100% and hangs until end process. Same for Outlook.
Word initializes but says can't open existing (NORMAL),
can't open the document template E:\prog
files\\pdfmaker.dot . will let you write a document but
when you try to save it it says can't save due to
permission errors. These issues are driving me crazy,
especially not being able to get into the email. Is
there a way to port the existing email files to another
computer without the help of OE program? Where do the
emails reside? Any help with this mess would be
appreciated. using XP pro, 2.2gig P4, 256 MB ram.
thanks jerre
