Last night--

When I have OLE and IE open, MS Word loads VERY slowly,
as does the right click menu from the Start Button.
Word docs also load slow from the taskbar documents menu.

If everything is minimized, or if nothing is open, load
times are normal.

I deleted the normal.dot file for word, no luck..and the
right click menu for taskbar properties is still slow

A virus & spyware scan came back clean. I'm not a fan of
defrag. What can I do to fix this? Thanks!

It now seems to be a right-click issue as well. When I
try to right-click in icons, such as NAV, volume, etc...I
don't get the menu, nor a description of what the icons
is...

Try this fix.. It Worked for me

The problem is with crl.verisign.com and is exacerbated
if
you have Norton Anti-Virus installed. This problem
should
clear up in a couple of days when Verisign deals with the
problem (DNS table entries pointing off into empty ether.)

In the mean time, this is what you can do to fix it
temporarily:

(Warning: this fix applies only if you have an active
internet connection. If you are experiencing these slow-
downs without being connected to the internet (dial-in,
DSL, cable, etc.) then the problem is most likely
something else and you shouldn't try this fix.)

Open your control panel and switch to classic view.
Open "Internet Options" and select the "Advanced" tab.
Scroll to the bottom of the list and uncheck "Check for
publisher's certificate revocation." Press "Apply"
and "Ok" and then reboot.

Everything should work much, much more quickly now. You
should re-enable the "Check for publisher's certificate
revocation" in a couple of days once Verisign gets its
problems worked out.
