Sudden restarts

I've had a happy, stable system for quite some time now, but recently needed
to add a card reader.

Bought a Lacie 6-in-1 (plugged into USB 2.0 PCI card), but after it was
plugged in for about 5 minutes, the pc would just reboot.

Changed the Lacie for a Lexar. Exactly the same problem.

Bought a powered USB 2.0 hub, which is quite happy on its own, but about 5
minutes after the card reader is plugged in, the pc restarts again.

What is going on?! I'm running a 7vrxp motherboard if that has any bearing,
and I'll gladly tell you anything else you need to know.

As always, many thanks for your time.

Sounds like an inadequate PSU (power supply) to me. That's in the PC, not
part of the hub! You're looking at about a 350 watt unit as the minimum to
run today's hardware and peripherals. None of my PCs have a PSU less than
420watt.

Thank you Cari.

I should have mentioned that I did upgrade my power supply to a 400w as an
attempted solution, but to no avail.

Thanks for your time though.
