sudden "no answer" error

For over a year I have been successfully faxing documents from WordXP
by selecting print/fax and then filling in the Fax Wizard. Also with
documents I create within the Fax Console. This applies both locally
and long-distance.

On a recent transmission the fax failed in the middle.

Ever since then, if I try to send a fax to that party, or to any other
party, I am told that there is no answer at the other end.

Those other people's faxes are on and working properly.

So what could all of a sudden cause this problem on my end, and how
can I fix it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I guess you are sending Fax directly from XP machine itself [using
OfficeXP]. Can you try installing SP1 and let us know if it solves the
issue? Also, can you tell what is the anti virus running on the machine?

I have SP1 installed already.

Norton antivirus.

I realize the problem was caused after i had selected the *70 option
to turn off call-waiting. as soon as i changed that back, the fax
started working again ok.

if call-waitring beeps while the fax is on, does that screw up the
fax?

of course, now i wonder why i can't have *70 selected...

also: when sending an international fax, the 011 should just be
entered like a regular part of the phone number? because now i can't
seem to send an international fax.
