sudden change in behavior???

This started a couple of days ago, and I can't for the life of me figure this
out.

In IE6 (XP, haven't installed SP2 yet), when I type in a web address it is
not auto filling anymore. Once I've typed in the address and hit enter, it
take literally 2-3 minutes to go the site (which one doesn't matter). If I
click on a favorites link, or follow links to other pages, I fly through just
fine. I'm on DSL (Verizon), and have utilized Verizon's speedtest, and I'm
getting great response.

Conincidentally (or not?), in Outlook when I click on the paperclip to
attach a file it appears to freeze, just like above for 2-3 minutes.

At times when this happens, the apps stop responding, and I try to stop the
app through task manager. Sometimes that works -- other times I just have to
shut down the machine.

The only recent change I have is that I installed a new printer (HP2610xi -
set up as a network printer). Could that be it?

Also, I have Norton Internet Security 2004 and Ad-Aware. I've run both and
appear to be clean of viruses, spyware, etc.

Please help!!!!

Hi,
This could be a problem with AutoComplete. Delete your History folder using
the appropriate (for your OS) instructions at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
I would also delete the Temporary Internet Files folder and set the size of
the new folder to about 60MB.

If that doesn't fix things, you may have spyware/parasites at work. Work
through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page. CWShredder or Spybot may find something that Ad-aware missed. Was
Ad-aware updated before use?

Hope this helps,

Don - thanks for the advice. I did all of those things, but to no avail...so
I decided to do a system restore dating back to the day before I installed
the printer. Then, I re-installed the printer. Now everything seems to be
working fine.
