It was lots of struggles, but I finally have Vista on my computer.
Performance Rating of 3! (The Sempron 2800+ got a 3 without being OC'd.)
I'm on Vista right now. Now let the struggles continue with my sound card!
(LOL)

Here's the rating break-down on my computer:
Processor: AMD Sempron 2800+ = 3.1
Memory: 1.50GB = 3.0 (A little lower than I expected)
Primary hard disk: 46.61GB Free (55.89GB Total) = 3.7
Graphics: Radeon X1600 Series = 5.9
Gaming Graphics: 384MB Graphics Memory = 4.3 (A little lower than I
expected again)

The only part that isn't working with my Audigy is the game port, but I
don't use that anyway.

The only thing I don't like so far is that DWM is eating 15-20% of my CPU
non-stop. (As long as glass is enabled.)

Vista only took a half-hour to install on my computer... (I used Daemon
Tools though.)

I forgot to add that the install was a nightmare because I had to also
reinstall my XP. Why? I'm glad you asked. Because when I tried to install
Vista the third time, I got a message saying that it could not delete the
boot manager. After that, I tried deleting the folder it could not delete
and it wouldn't let me. I then tried deleting it in safe mode, but the
computer for some reason when I selected safe mode just sat there and did
not do anything. I was going to do just a repair install of XP, but that
would not work because it only affects the Windows folder.

Heh, heh, heh....

Got to admit this is the first thread I've seen where all six posts are from
the same person and not replicated.

Glad to hear you've got it running! Have fun!

I just keep finding more and more things to add on to what I had to say.
The only piece of hardware that I haven't been able to get working so far is
my scanner. (Visioneer 5800) I'll probably never get it to work due to
Visioneer's ability to make up-to-date drivers. My Canon i560 printer was
detected by Vista without any piece of software. (I was very surprised by
that.) My Rio S35S worked fine with the disc. My Logitech Wingman's
working. The Cruzer Mini's working. Etc. My sound card works now, but it
is a little flakey. (If you bring the computer out of sleep, the sound will
no longer work.) Also, the only jack working on the sound card right now is
the lime-green jack. (But at least I'm getting sound whereas most others
are not with these cards.) Out of the 1.5GB of RAM, 1GB is still free.
I've noticed WMP11 on Vista is very slow. Visualizations barely move.

Speaking of ratings, does anyone know the top number for ratings? I got a 3
but don't know where I stand. If the top number is 10, then I am not doing
so well.

Thanks

The top number is 5, and you are fine with a 3.

Might I also add that it's rare to get an overall rating of '5'. It takes
an extremely powerful PC to accomplish an overall rating of '5'.

you looser. lol...jk stop reposting to yourself. its ok like once or twice
for add-ons and stuff....but six times....

well my evo laptop got a 1.3 so shut up and feel blessed....lol
i'm going to test it on my zd8000 next and see what i get and hopefully the
beta will work better on it.

and besides i put vista on a internal multibay 60GB hdd.
the internall hdd was 20GB.

my zd8000 is next for my vista testing experience.
it has a 100GB hard drive.
i'm putting vista on a external multibay 80GB hdd
it has 256MB of vram
2GB of ddr2 ram
17 inch widescreen display
a 3.4GHz processor w/ ht technology

what performence rating do u think my zd8000 wil get?
by the way the main hdd is rated and not the secondary hdd. (meaning the one
with xp on it and not the one with vista on it if you are doing a dual
boot.)
