I have imported a stock price list into Excel 2000. Line 1 has: date / open
/ close / high / low, in cells A thru E . I have 72 lines of this and I
want to subtract E from D in all lines. I can do individual lines with the =
D2-E2 and it gives the answer where I previously put the cursor preferably
F. But I can't get all to subtract at once. I can highlight the whole D2:D72
and E2:E72 and highlight all of cell F but it will still only subtract 1
line . Thanks

Select F2:F72
Enter the formula for the active row: =D2-E2
Press Ctrl+Enter, to enter the formula in all rows

In F1 enter your formula =E1-D1 then double-click on the fill handle of F1 to
copy it down to row 72.

The fill handle is located at the bottom right-corner of the cell. Looks like
a black square lump.

OR click on the "lump" and drag the formula down to F72. The cell references
will increment as they fill down.

Thanks both very much, it was the CTRL that I was missing. I have a MS
Office book and I could not find it in there I guess it probably is as it is
probably a basic function. Thanks again
