Hi,
Using subtotals to summarise, say, a 1000 rows of data
into 50 rows of subtotals.
I want to take those 50 rows into another sheet and then
work on just those 50 rows to produce a report. I don't
want the underlying detail to appear in the new sheet. It
sounds a bit like pivot tables but I don't want to go
there!
Any ideas please.
Thanks for looking.

Hi

The way I do it is to show just the subtotals themselves, then Edit / Go to
/ Visible. Copy these and then Paste Special / Values onto the other sheet.

if you're copying these to a new sheet, you may want to invest some time in
learning about pivottables.

it could make a nice difference in what you do in excel.

With a little practice, you'll find these things really useful.

Here are some links for pivottable info:

Debra Dalgleish's pictures at Jon Peltier's site:

And Debra's own site:

John Walkenbach also has some at:
http://j-walk.com/ss/excel/files/general.htm
(look for Tony Gwynn's Hit Database)

Chip Pearson keeps Harald Staff's notes at:
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/pivots.htm

MS has some at (xl2000 and xl2002):
