Anyone found one which will work in WinXP?
Looking for -
Fax Group 4, multipage capability, import from TWAIN device,
zoom capabilities, basic editing eg straighten (rotate by 1 degree or so),
despeckle, sharpen ...
I know earlier Win9x/ME/2k versions can be installed with a bit of work, but
that's not acceptable in this situation, and XP's view fax is no good ...
TIA

you may want to look at the free program IrfanView

or else ACDsee which is not freeware but does have a trial version

Thanks. I tried IrfanView: it only handled 7 pages of a 23 page TIF. KI will handle
40 pages or more ..
The task involves dropping a whole pile of documents and drawings into a
sheet-feed scanner. Without a program like Kodak Imaging the job is going to
take years. Guess we might have to buy a copy from Eastman :-(

You might want to try Xnview. www.xnview.com

I haven't found a good freeware "page manager" type program yet. I posted
an inquiry here, got no reply.

One of my scanners (Fujitsu) came with its own scanner utility - quite good
for handling and managing multipage TIFFs. Otherwise I think the only game
left in town is

Scansoft Paperport.

Thanks. That will save us the trouble of dumping XP and reinstalling Win98.
Xnview certainly handles multipage TIFs ok - didn't blink at 67 pages (we
usually only do 40 at the most - capacity of the sheet feeder).
Bit limited on filtering, but it will straighten by 1 degree, remove noise,
and is 8bf compatible.
This is an office situation, so I guess we'll need to register it. AUD100 more
or less for two copies + staff learning curve, or AUD500 for the Eastman
product and no learning curve (sigh).
