Subreports

I'm a newbie. I keep reading about sub-reports, what exactly are sub reports. Are they always related entities or can they be unrelated reports that can be put on a singular piece of paper for convenience???
 
A subreport is like a subform. Subreports are created and designed like any
report. They are designed with the intention of being added as a control on
a main report much like a subform is contained in a main report.

And to expand further -
Yes, they can be unrelated reports put on one report. Usually, they are
related to the current report's records, but they don't have to be.
