Subreport

I am trying to create a subreport in a report. The report is for Hardware
and Software. I want the report to show the hardware for each user (there
are two pieces of hardware) and the subreport to show the software for each
user. But when i look at the report in Report View, it shows the software
for both records for the hardware.

It sounds like you might want to base the main form on
Users, and then have two subforms--one for hardware and one
for software.

Unless the software is related to the hardware...


Totally unrelated:

Did you actually post your message as a reply to a message
with the Subject of "RE: Subreport", dated 1/23/2008? Or
has my newsreader gone wonky (every now and again it seems
to do that)?

If you put the Subreport Control in the Detail Section of the Report, and
there are two detail lines (hardware) for the user, then it _should_ be
displayed twice.

There are a couple of ways to solve this:

(1) Make the main Report by user, and use two Subreport Controls, one for
hardware and one for software.
(2) Put the Subreport Control for Software in the Group Header for User, or
in the Group Footer.

on the other hand, if you want to show the software installed on the
hardware device (computer), a Subreport in the Detail would be appropriate,
provided you can determine what software is installed on what hardware
(computer).
