I have some machines that get "No domain controllercan be
found to validate your password" when the user is trying
to log in. This is not an everyday occurance. But I will
have one or two pcs do this a week. Usually all I have to
do is a winipcfg or ipconfig to release and renew the ip
address. Then it will log on fine. My supervisor say
that the subnet changes is what is causing the issue. I
had never noticed it until today. It had changed from
255.255.255.0 to 255.255.0.0

Does anyone know what would cause this and what I can do
to fix it?

What OS on those clients? Does the ipconfig/all show that everything is
pointing to the server-IP?

They are Win98, and Yes Shows that everything is pointing
to the server ip. The only thing that is incorrect is the
subnet mask.

Got WINS installed on the server? Got options 003, 006, 015, 044 and 046
(0x8) set in DHCP-server, Scope options?
How many nics in the server?
Server fully patched?
