Submission Directory Rights, Permissions and Security

I work as a network admin for a college and have an issue
that I am seeking advice on.

We have groups set up for each of the classes of students.
We have a drive that is designated the "Submit" drive with
subdirectories for each class code. I have shared those
class subdirectors. The students submit their assignments
and projects on this drive for marking. Now here is the
problem.

I am trying (unsucessfully I might add) to set up the
rights as follows. The class group has rights to see the
list of files and directories, can navigate through all the
directories, subdirectories and files without being able to
open, copy, change or delete any of the directories or
files. Now the student should be able to create
directories and files and then once created, they should
not be able to access those files further, other than
listing the directories and files that they, or other
students in their group have created.

In Novell (all versions) this was an extremely easy and
secure task, in Windows..........well, maybe I am missing
something (like perhaps an IQ of 300).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
