Indexing and system restore are the culprits. Both are
useless on a stand alone home computer and System Restore
is useless on any machine. If you want dependable backups
use NT Backup.
There are three types of people in computing, those that
can count and those that can't.

Hi, Rahul.

PLEASE read the instructions for how to use these Discussion Groups! ;^}

For example, to continue a conversation, click Reply, NOT New. This post
from you is not threaded with your earlier messages, so there is little
context to help understand your problem - and there is no assurance that The
Unknown P will see it.

You do understand, don't you, that this is a peer-to-peer newsgroup (called
a Discussion Group in the Web-based interface). In other words, we are all
just users like you. Nobody pays us to answer questions here. We're here
because we WANT to help you. Please make it easy for us to do that.

As I have had the good fortune of seeing your orignal post and replying to one of them I will restate what I told you earlier. Turn off your indexing service as well as you system restore. These two are responsible for constant CPU acitivity and the slow consumption or your free space. For exact instructions it's as simple as going>start\help and support and then typing in indexing service and clicking the arrow and do some reading and then when you have figured that out then type in System Restore and click the arrow. Both of these will give you details on where and how to turn off or on the services. If you like you can print these instructions and then follow from your printed version the exact procedures. }:~)

The indexing service uses the CPU frequently. System Restore,
which runs once a day, does not, and should not be turned off.

and the slow consumption
or your free space.

In these days of cheap hard drives, the amount of disk space
these use is inconsequential. But lower the far-too-high default
of 12% of your drive that System Restore imposes, ot it will be
significant.
