Subheaders in windows explorer detailed view, suddenly appear?

I use Windows Explorer a lot in XP and thought I knew the basics
about it. But now I've come accross a very simple problem that I can't
solve.
For some reason my right pane "detailed view" has started showing
subheaders. What I mean by this is not the normal column headers (name,
size,date,etc....) but the subheaders for whatever sort order you chose
by selecting the column headers. So for example if I select "size" in
the column header it will sort everything by size but put these
subheaders like "tiny" "small" "folders" in the right pane. For years I
had set the detailed view to just display the column headers but not
these subheaders, which I find very very irritating.
I thought there would have been an option in:

Tools > Folder options > View

.... but there is nothing about setting these subheaders as visible
or not. Can someone help me out here? Thanks

View | Arrange Icons by | Unselect Show in Groups

Show in Groups
Show in Groups allows you to group your files by any detail of the file,
such as name, size, type, or date modified. For example, if you group by
file type, image files appear in one group, Microsoft Word files appear in
another group, and Excel files in another. Show in Groups is available in
the Thumbnails, Tiles, Icons, and Details views.
