Hi All,

I opened my Windows Explorer window, set the view to Detail and then
specified every new window use my settings. Nevertheless, whenever I
open a folder in this window or any new explorer window, sub-folders
open in icon view.

How can I get them to open in detail view initially?

TIA,
Richard

P.S. I've just installed Win 2000 Pro

Explorer|Tools|Folder Options|View, then "Like Current Folder". Depending on
your likings, you may also need to check "Remember each folder's view
settings"

Hi Dave,

As kids today say, you're soooo right! I'm preparing a Win2K computer
for my grandson. I've been on XP for years, so 2K feels foreign in
some respects. That's my excuse for not seeing the obvious :-)

Thanks, and best wishes,
Richard
