subclassing altering open dialog window

I need pointers on how to modify the open dialog widow. My goal is to add a
preview window run by my own class.

I do not have experience converting vb6 code to vb.net. Please give tipe
relative to vb.net.

Has anyone had any luck finding a conversion for the vb6 files. I
would prefer a pure dot net approach but for now I just need to find a
solution.
