I have a sub report on a main report. It has a field in the page header
section that takes its data from a form.
If I view the sub report on its own the data is visible but if I view the
main report(with the sub report) then the data in the page header section of
the sub report is not visible. Why is this and how can I overcome it?

The main report is in charge of all paging operations, a
subreport's page stuff is ignored.

To display something at the top of each page in a subreport,
create a top level group with header based on a constant
expression such as =1. Set the group header section's
RepeatSection property to Yes and move your page header
controls to this group header.
