Sub-Domains and Policy

Moving from a single domain to a multiple-domain tree...

1) Are domain policies in the root domain propagated to sub-domains?
2) Other then Site based Policy... Do I need to worry about policy from a
higher domain enforcing unwanted policy on sub-domains?
3) Where can I find more Specific info?

1. No. The only policy that is domain independent are policies defined on a
site.
