Dear all,

My son is after a laptop, primarily to use for course work and internet. We have £400.00 available. I've seen the following and was hoping you could take a look and see if they are ok for the price or offer any other recommedations.

Toshiba Satellite Pro
Fujitsu

Many thanks,

Ian

The Tosh looks low-tech, and, not enough ram.

Have a look in Tesco. ;)

My twin daughters recently purchased one of These each for Uni and they're very happy with them.

They're discontinued now but basically, for £337.50 inc postage:

Toshiba L30
Celeron 1.73
1Gb RAM
80Gb Hard Disk
Vista pre-installed (no full disk)

I bought them from Laptops Direct. They came with Nortons Antivirus trial version pre-installed

As mentioned, you don't get a full version of Windows Vista but you do get a Vista serial number so if you have a copy of Vista elsewhere, that's all you need for backup.

The Fujitsu looks good for the money : dual core, 1GB ram and a 120GB HD should be plenty of power for coursework and internet. I'd skip the Toshiba though, 512MB ram and a Celeron CPU for only slightly less £.

Yeah, same as above, give the Toshiba a miss.

Try Dell, ive known a couple of people that have bought the Dell 6400 for coursework and are more than happy with it. It's usually around the £400 mark mate.

Well don,t try out dell.

Tesco does cheap latop and pc world

If your not looking for games to play on it you may get one under 400.
