I have 2 iMacs 10.2.6 on one, 9.2.2 on the other. Whenever I print on
either computer or turn on the printer the printer takes 5 minutes to
clean the heads. Not only is it waisting ink but it's rubbing it in my
face with 5 minutes of loud head cleaning sounds. Is there anyway I
can get my Stylus 740 to stop waisting my money?

Yeah, I stopped it from wasting my money by simply throwing it out. ;-)

If you leave it off until you go to print the cleaning cycle will be
shorter. If you leave it on all day and then try to print you will get a
long cleaning cycle but it isn't 5 mins. So if you want to save ink leave
the printer off until you need to print.

Throw it in the garbage and get a Samsung ML-1430 laser printer that
has both USB and parallel ports. This printer is 14 ppm and has 8 meg
of printer memory in it and it works with iMacs as it has driver
software for it.

You can get the printer at Staples.
