I have a style called "Chapter Heading" and I want to apply it to text six
spaces down on a new page.

I see that most if not all MVPs are vehemently against inserting a hard page
break and then inserting six blank paragraphs.

That's fine with me, but how can I do this will styles?

1. You can set the style as "page break before" under
Format-->Paragraph-->Line and page breaks tab.
2. You can format the style to have 36 points (12 pts * six lines) before
spacing under Format-->Paragraph-->Indents and Spacing tab, Space before.

Something's funny with my 36 points. It only brought me down an inch or so.
I had to go up to several hundred to get the amount of space at the top of
the page that I wanted. I think it's because my manuscript is in
double-space mode.
But numbers aside, I'm a happy camper. I can trial and error until I get to
the right place.
 
Also, I see that since I gave my message the name "Styles", it appears to
have snuck in under et's post.

I know I clicked the "New Post" button.
 
36 points is half an inch. Six (typewriter) lines is an inch, or 72 points.
