Hey everyone. You may have noticed that I have been posting quite a bit
here lately. Seems my new hobby is tweaking XP..LOL

My next question is about Styles XP. Has anyone used this? or has anyone
altered the uxtheme dll? Is Plus better?

Any ill effects on the OS using either one of them? Good experiences, bad
experiences, anything I should avoid?

Throw your opinions my way please!

Thanks,

Craig

Don't use plus, But style xp hasn't given me any problems and works better
than any other version of plus or destop properties for that matter.
Just my opinion anyhow.

Works absolutly great on this end, and I've been using it since their
first beta.
Plus XP will not give you the option of using "styles" available on
the net...only it's 4 themes.

There IS a free "uxtheme.dll patch" available from the Style XP
site...... which allows you to use any style manually. I prefer the
full paid version though, as you can switch styles, themes, wallpaper,
and logon screens from one easy to use location. Well worth the small
fee.
Extra styles, logons, wallpaper for StyleXP can be found here:

As others have said, Styles XP is a great tool for opening up the theming
engine, or you can just use a modified uxtheme.dll BUT you MUST use the
correct patch for your version of XP as MS changed the dll with SP1...

Plus just provides a few extra old style windows themes, and no visual
styles at all. IMHO it's not worth the cash for what you do get...

One more question on Style XP. If I use this will I void my XP EULA?

And also has anyone had issues with uninstalling or getting the original
UTx dll to restore with an uninstall?

Thanks again,

Craig
