console but without knowing the software enough i cant
disable anything. i dont know what drivers could do that
if any. what can i do?

Try booting from xp cd,recovery, press enter key for
password,at the curser type:CHKDSK C: /R
When its thru type:EXIT
Let xp load this time,if that doesnt work, reboot to xp
cd,recovery,type:bootcfg /default or /rebuild
Quit blaming microsoft for all the problems!

Brandon;
Try a Repair Installation:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_repair_install.htm
Windows Updates will need to be reinstalled.
Data should be safe, back-up important data just in case.
Install Service Pack first and by itself.
Then install ALL Critical Updates no more than 4 at a time,

Disconnect the network/modem cable before starting repair and do NOT
reconnect the cable until repair is completed and firewall is
installed/enabled.

im just pissed cuz there givin me such a hard time. it
says volume contains 1 or more unrecoverabke problems

Brandon;
Retail Windows XP CD will do it.
If Windows XP came with your computer, you may or may not have that
option.
Contact the computer manufacturer for details.

You stated that for security reasons, you can not place the hard drive
in another computer.
Why?
Do you mean you get "Access Denied"?
If so, you simply need to Take Ownership of the data in the other
computer:

This procedure requires the WIN XP CD.

Go into your BIOS and make your CDROM your first boot
device, at the same time, DISABLE second and third boot
devices, put your Win XP cd in the drive, save and exit.

Reboot.

When you get to the setup screen, make like you were doing
a fresh install and when you get to the "Select a
partition to install to" you need to select the
partition/drive that Win XP is ALREADY on, and click OK.

You will then be presented with a message along the lines
of "XP already detected on this partition, would you like
to repair?"

Click Yes/Ok to repair your XP without losing any data or
settings.
