Bogus Fracture

How do you take a CD-RW drive out of a Dell Dimension 4400? And how do you
check to make sure it is connected properly?

My BIOS does not see it and the system info says CD-ROM not installed.

Make sure you check the connections on the motherboard and the back of
the drive to see that they are tightly connected. If thats not the
case then just go to dells site as said before or call dell and
scream at the indian guy you get on the phone :D

If you have not done anything to the computer then there should be no reason
why your bios can't see the drive but you could open the case and disconnect
the ribbon connector and the power connector and reconnect them then see if
the bios will recognize the drive. Also does the drive door open? If doing
what was suggested does not get the drive recognized in bios then the way
to take it out is to unplug the ribbon connector and the power connector
again then unscrew the screws holding the drive in the bay. After all the
screws are out the drive should slide out the front of the bay easily.
