Stupid question - where would I find namespaces like system.data?

is it stored in a directory on hard drive, if so where?

you found it in c:\windows\microsoft.net\v1.1.4322 if
you have the .NET Framework 1.1 installed.

It is in the System.Data.dll, found in the .NET Framework install directory,
under your windows root directory.
