Hi, I know this is dumb but I have to send a PowerPoint
presentation to somebody who is using PowerPoint 7. I use
PowerPoint 2000 and don't know what PowerPoint 7 is or how
to make sure my presentation is going to be compatible
with that software version.

My question is:

Is PowerPoint 7 the same and PowerPoint 97? And, is there
a way to see how whether my PowerPoint version will look
okay on my version (2000) prior to sending it to them?
Should I save it as a different file version before
sending to them?

PowerPoint 7, as TAJ says, is PowerPoint 95. The file format used in
PowerPoint 95 is different from PowerPoint 2000, so you'll want to save your
presentation as PowerPoint 95 in the File > Save as dialog. Don't be
alarmed to find that the file size is much greater than the PowerPoint 2000
file. PowerPoint 95 didn't do compression.

Other than opening the file in PowerPoint 95, I don't know of a way for you
to see what it will look like on your associates system.

For that matter, unless he needs to change the presentation, why not send it
to him on an auto-open CD that uses the new viewer. This way, you will not
have to dumb down the presentation for his version.

As far as I know, both result in the same thing - - PowerPoint 95 format.

I can't tell you anything about a 95 Viewer. But, B has a great question.
Why not send the file along with the new Viewer and have the user see the
presentation the way you intend? Unless they need to do some editing, that
would be far superior.

Thanks for your help, Sonia. I appreciate it.
