Stupid question: How do you use BIOS to detect a drive?

I think my internal hard drive (not the main one, one that i added
later for stuff) is damaged. It was working fine (although getting
slower and slower), then all of a sudden yesterday, it became
inaccessible. I don't know what to do.
I searched on the internet and most people suggest using BIOS to detect
it, but i don't know how to do it.

Also, i have a bt program running that saves onto E drive (damaged
drive), and i am unable to open the program because it's trying to
access E. I removed the program and reinstall it and the queues are
still there!!! What should I do?

Thanks!

To get into the BIOS, you'll do some key press as soon as the computer
starts up. Usually there will be a prompt at the bottom of the screen that
says something like "Press DEL to enter Setup". Or F2 or the like.

Once in, you are looking for the place where the drives are listed. It's
safe for you to look around; just don't make changes since you don't know
what you're doing.

Probably your best bet is to take the machine to a professional computer
repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA) for diagnosis and
repair. I'm not saying this to hurt your feelings, just being practical.

Your hd may have failed
Visit the hd manu site and download their bootable floppy testing utility

Right click on My Computer and select MANAGE, the
Storage/disk management and see if it detected by XP and it
has a drive letter assigned.
