This may sound stupid but I have installed a second hard drive and
cannot figure how to partition and format it. The drive is a WD
SATA 250 GB drive. My other drive is partitioned into 2 parts with
the operating system on C:. I did get as far as initializing it but
am lost after that. I'm very unfamiliar with XP pro. Any help will
be greatly appreciated.

Go to Disk Management on your Windows PC, (right click on the My Computer
icon, then select the Manage option, then in the Computer Management window
select Disk Management).

Located in the bottom right you will see your drives listed (Drive0,
Drive1). Drive1 is normally the second drive (the one you added).
Right click on the area located to the right of the drive number (Drive1),
you should see options as you progress to define partitions, format a
partition and the type of format (FAT or NTFS).

For more detail see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000/en-us

Note: Be absolutely certain you do not select your existing (the original
drive) boot drive, which should show one or more partitions usually starting
with a drive letter of C:

Hi,

Click start/run, type DISKMGMT.MSC and click ok, this should open disk
manager. Right click on the free space of the new drive and you can
partition it however you like. Once partitioned, you need only format the
drive volume(s) to begin using it.
