I'm sure there is a web page or something that will walk me thru setting up
a network. Bought a Belkin wireless router and their tech support refuses to
help. Here's the situation:
Desktop running XP Pro wired to wireless router
Router wired to Cable Modem
Laptop with built-in wireless.
Problem:
Both machines connect to the internet, but they won't talk to each other. I
have file sharing on and have set some folders to be shared. I ranthe setup
wizards, and the 2 puters are on the same workgroup. If I explore the entire
network, the workgroup and both computers are listed, but if I doubleclick
the laptop from the desktop, I get an error "Laptop is not accessible. You
might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The
network path was not found". I tried re-running the setup wizard, but at the
end it says "Cannot complete the network setup wizard. An error occurred
during configuration of the network on this computer. You can configure your
network manually, or you can run the wizard again with different settings."
Where can I find out how to configure it manually?
If this is relevant--There are 2 NIC cards in the desktop. 1 is built in and
the other is a card. I went into Device Manager and disabled the unused
card, so there would not be any kind of conflict. Don't know if that's
relevant.
Thanks for any advice!

Did not read through the entired rumble, but sounds like u need XP
accounts permission. Control Panel -> User Accounts. Or setup shares
for all access (dangerous).

thanks bobb. that sounds good, since I haven't done that. could you
elaborate? when i go to user accounts the choices seem limited (i am the
administrator). thx
